Royal Hobart Hospital

Healthcare Projects

The Royal Hobart Hospital, Tasmania underwent a major redesign in two of its kitchens:  The Cambridge Production Kitchen and a Receiving Kitchen and Cafe within the Hospital.

The aim of the redesign for the main production kitchen was to create a contemporary, functional and efficient facility, therefore improving its current services. The project needed the food services team to deliver a quality product for both current and future clients. The facilities needed to be a safe and efficient place to work in for their staff.

What we did;

  • Held design workshops and consultation meetings
  • Devised design documentation with full equipment schedule lists
  • Conducted contract administration
  • Redesigned the menus available to patrons

The second major part of this project was the design and documentation of the receiving kitchen and cafe. The aim of the works was to be able to supply a broader menu than was currently available. In the design of the dining space, there also needed to be a distinct separation of dining areas for both staff and the general public.

Take a look at our services pages to learn more about what we can provide the healthcare sector.

MDA have supported the RHH and the key stakeholders through the design process, with all stakeholders supporting the final schemes with true excitement.

I have worked with MDA on numerous other occasions and I have always found the support and design ability of MDA to be excellent, but moreover MDA engage with the client and ascertain what it is they are working to achieve.
